The Breast Care Clinic performs extended breast cancer screening under the Breast Cancer Early Detection Programme. In the case of abnormalities detected at an early stage, the oncologist performs an interview and physical examination (breast palpation), according to the European guidelines for quality assurance in breast cancer detection and diagnosis, and refers the patient for further diagnosis (targeted mammography, ultrasonography, biopsy). If breast cancer is diagnosed, the patient is referred for treatment.
