Microbiology
The unit acts as a laboratory for diagnosis and development of treatment methods for infectious diseases. It carries out diagnostic and epidemiological studies for diseases spreading in the form of epidemic foci and epidemic diseases. Of particular importance is the Unit’s role in identifying, preventing and selecting treatment of hospital-based infections. Head of the Unit provides consultation in antibiotic therapy for patients treated at the GPCC. The Unit participates in quality control programmes held by the Centre for Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Microbiology, Warsaw.
