Contura application - first time in Poland and in Europe!

This procedure was done fot the first time outside USA. Most often in the Europe another applicator (Mammosite) is used, but the Contura applicator is the first one with 5 channels for radioactive source. It  enlarges the possibilities for calculating of proper dose distributions and saving healthy tissues. Brachytherapy using Contura is applied in early breast cancer patients, qualified for Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation (APBI). It makes possible for shortening the treatment time to 5-6 days, is very convenient for patients. Results are very promising, and we are very happy that we could start this technique as the first conurty outside the USA.
